These were some remarks during the AAL Plenary Session on Tuesday september 25th in the Evoluon building (Eindhoven). The morning session started with a lecture by Marja van Bijsterveld, Minister for Education, Culture and Sciences of the Netherlands. Laurence Pearce was one of the members of the panel.There was also video message also from Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission.

The Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programm (since 2008) has been funding projects to develop AAL solutions through 5 distinct calls for proposal. The overarching goal; Increase the number of healthy life years in Europe by two years in the year 2020. This is all about the European Innovation partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing.  Innovation is the key element.
