Fish Wanda

11 oktober 2010 om 6:34 uur door Jan Taco

Kijk door de ogen van de digitale vis WANDA!

Here’s the video clip of WANDA; it is free to use for educational or non-commercial purposes, and should have an acknowledgment to the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute, University of Wollongong, Australia, and the National Centre for Sensor Research, Dublin City University.  The clip was produced by Scotty McGovern, of IPRI, working under the joint supervision of Prof. Gordon Wallace and Prof. Geoff Spinks; the WANDA project is still active and is a joint initiative between IPRI, UOW and the NCSR, DCU.

regards

Dermot

    More than beatiful!

When such a fish will be robust and have a wide-angle lens, I believe many fisherman, especially carp fisherman, will be running to the shops to get one.

I will always be willing to discuss a further commercial steps for this beautiful device.

    Beste regards

Thank you for your kind words.

I am primary researcher working on the WANDA fish project in NCSR, DCU.

I believe that the implementation of a wide-angle lens would be very straight forward and would have many added advantages.

Note: it has been established that fish will follow an object as long as it ‘moves like another fish’. This is an extreme advantage of using the polymer artificial muscles over traditional mechanical propulsion mechanisms.

Many other benefits can result from this including leading fish away from polluted waters, perform sea life studies and many more…

If you would like any addition information please don’t hesitate to contact me: cormac.fay – at- dcu.ie

    Kind redards,

    Cormac
